Soaps
Q: Why may soaps have variations in color or scent strength?
A: All soaps are made in small batches, and while we document our ingredients and measure carefully, there are occasional factors that slightly change the final product.
Q: How do I know the soap is made in a clean environment?
A: All pots, pans, spatulas, spoons, and measuring cups used for making soaps are labeled and used only for soaps. These items are washed before and after each use to ensure a clean starting point. I ensure my hair is pulled back, and wear gloves when handling my products. Once the soaps are ready, they are then examined for imperfections, stray hairs/dust, etc. and wrapped in a shrink wrap bag, and then labeled.
Q: Why are weights different for different scents?
A: Occasionally, a batch comes out underweight, and rather than rebatching the soap, I choose to lower the price and label it lower than my goal weight. Soaps are typically slightly heavier than labeled, but they will never arrive at a weight less than the label.
Cosmetics
Q: How do I know this product is made in a clean environment?
A: Any cosmetic product available (lip balm, lip scrub, lip mask, and future items), has its own designated pots, pans, spatulas, spoons, and measuring cups. These items are washed before and after each use to ensure a clean start to the manufacturing process. After the required setting time, items are evaluated to determine if they are up to standards.
Q: How are these items protected/do I know they are safe?
A: Our cosmetics have not been evaluated by the FDA, but one piece from each batch has been personally tested to ensure there are no problems. Lip balms, scrubs, and masks all have a safety seal placed on the rim before sealing. Since some of these seals pop into the lid before fully sealing, items have a shrink wrap bag placed around them as well to ensure items arrive tamper-free.
Packaging Notes
While there are many jars that we refuse due to significant issues, there are occasionally imperfections in our jars. This may mean a lid sits out on one end, or there may be a gauge or chip in the wooden lids. We try our best to save the imperfect items for our personal-use tests, but occasionally you may receive an item with a visual defect like these. It is perfectly safe to use and does not impact functionality or protection in any way.
